An academic foundation in trade and maritime economics

Doctoral research into how services and shipping move across borders, and two research platforms built to carry that work further.

I — Doctoral research

Trade in services, and the movement of ships

Dr. Poonam Kapoor holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Mumbai. Her doctoral research examined international trade in services, with particular emphasis on maritime transport services, a technical, data-intensive corner of economics concerned with how shipping, freight and regulation move across borders.

That research later found a public form in India's Trade in Services, an economic analysis published through the ISF Institute of Research and Education (IIRE), and it continues to inform her wider interest in maritime studies, organisational development and knowledge creation.

II — Publishing platforms

Building spaces for maritime and interdisciplinary research

Under Inner Search Foundation, through the ISF Institute of Research and Education (IIRE), Dr. Kapoor has helped establish two peer-reviewed research platforms. The International Journal of Maritime Research and Development (IJMRD) has published scholarly work on shipping, marine engineering, seafarer welfare, maritime education and regulatory compliance since 2016. The ISF Working Paper Series, running alongside it, carries a wider range of working papers on maritime and trade economics, regional development, and contemporary policy questions.
